Dear Interview Panel Members,
Thank you for agreeing to serve on the interview panel for the Public Health Director position on Monday, May 11th. Mr. Hill has served Nash County with distinction, and while no one can truly replace him, we are seeking the next public health leader to guide
the agency through its next chapter.
HR and I have already conducted 30-minute virtual interviews as an initial screening to determine which candidates would be invited to participate in the in-person assessment process. The three candidates moving forward are those who advanced through that stage.
The in-person interview process will include two components:
-
Structured Interview
Each candidate will participate in a structured interview that includes a consistent set of questions and scenarios. To ensure fairness and consistency, all candidates will be asked the same core questions. If there are any questions or topics you would like
to suggest for inclusion, please let me know. I will share a draft interview tool with the panel later this week.
-
Leadership Presentation
Each candidate has been asked to prepare and deliver a leadership presentation to the panel. This portion of the process is intended to provide insight into how each applicant would approach leading the agency and advancing its work.
The interview panel will include:
-
W. Rodwell Drake, Jr., MD (Roddy), Medical Director
-
Tia Foula (me), Human Services Director
-
Mandy Bailey, Business Officer and Historian
-
Tonya Baker, Director of Nursing
-
Scott LaVigne, Franklin County Health Director
The candidate interview schedule is as follows on Monday, May 11th, 2026:
-
Applicant 1: 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM
-
Applicant 2: 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM
-
Lunch Break: 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM
-
Applicant 3: 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM
I will also arrange lunch for the panel. Please let me know if you have any dietary restrictions or preferences so I can plan accordingly.
